An afternoon quickie

Just a short post here with my lunch. I'm holding out as late as possible this afternoon for my mid day snack. I am meeting The Michelle's for dinner(that would be MB and MJ). We are going to Lone Star.

Lunch I had my salad from Wednesday.
3/4 of a med to large size tomato, 1 short med sized orange pepper, 1 cup of English cucumber, several thin slices of red onion and 30g of light feta cheese. Topped with a pinch of thyme and 2 pinches of oregano.
I did add my own homemade balsamic dressing. It's a very basic balsamic. As basic as it can get.

1 tbsp EVOO
1/2tbsp Balsamic Vinegar.
Shake together and pour over your meal.

Question: Do you ever get anxious when going out for dinner with friends who might not be watching what they eat? What kind of changes, substitutions do you make to your meals at restaurants
?

Me, tonight I am. MJ is a MFP member, but she also eats beef, and I do not, thus keeping her options much bigger than mine. I have selected 3 items from their menu I am considering:
  1. Lone Star Chicken Salad - Fresh greens with grape tomatoes, roasted peppers, spiced glazed pecans, onions and Jack cheese, drizzled with a honey citrus jalapeño dressing and topped with Mesquite-grilled chicken. My changes would be hold the chicken, and sub the dressing for balsamic on the side.
  2. Vegetable Fajitas - Onions, peppers, broccoli, button & grilled Portobello mushrooms drizzled with chimichurri and served with Roasted Tomatillo salsa. My change would be to eat the veggies and rice mixed together and not eat any tortilla and limit my sour cream salsa.
  3. Bronzed Tilapia - Lightly blackened and topped with zesty marinated Pico tomatoes. Served with Mexican rice and seasonal vegetables. I wouldn't make any changes here, but really not a fan of tilapia.

Happy Friday

Well, we did it! We made it to the end of another work week. Sadly I wish mine ended today when I leave work at 3:30. It does not. However this weekend is my last workathon of shifts I picked up just incase I got laid off. This is what my weekend looks like:

Saturday--> 9am-3pm at job number 1, 3pm-11pm at job number 2.
Sunday --> 3pm-11pm at job number 2, then back to work Monday morning at 8:30am.

I wouldn't mind so so much if this wasn't Kevin's weekend off from work and next weekend when I'm off he is working. *grumbles*

So let me finish recapping yesterday before I start on this morning.

For my mid afternoon snack I had a sliced up gala apple with a 1/2 cup of non fat cottage cheese.
I got home not too long after my snack as I didn't snack until almost 3:15. When I got home I was starving. I however took my time in the kitchen cooking everything in plenty of time to have dinner ready for just after 5 (note the time on the kitchen clock).
I couldn't decide which picture and lighting I liked better, so I was vain and posted both today.

Salmon salad (yes I said I did some cooking for dinner tonight)

Cooked Salmon Salad
  • 2cups romaine lettuce
  • 3-4oz of skinless salmon
  • 1/2cup broccoli
  • 5 stalks of asparagus
  • 1/4 cup cooked quinoa
  • pinch of sesame seeds
  • pinch of drilled dill
  • 1/2tbsp soy ginger salad dressing
  • Red pasta sauce

Directions

  1. Take your salmon and place it on some tinfoil, would be skin side up. Broil on 500-550 for 3-4 minutes.
  2. Flip your salmon and sprinkle with your pinch of dill and sesame seeds.
  3. Broil for another 3-4 minutes.
  4. When finished let it sit and cool.
  5. Get your steamer ready and take your asparagus and steam for 3minutes
  6. Replace the asparagus with the broccoli in the steamer for 2 minutes.
  7. Chop up your asparagus into 1/2 inch pieces.
  8. Let your veggies cool.
  9. Cook your rinsed quinoa as per the directions on the box. I used 1/2 cup milk and 1/4 cup quinoa (to serve Kevin & myself).
  10. When finished cooking add in 1-2 wooden spoonfuls of red pasta sauce. Stir.
  11. Add all ingredients to your chopped romaine lettuce.

After dinner I went to another class of Hot Yoga. This was Janice's first class teaching Thursday nights. I know Janice from aerobics classes from my community centre gym. I don't know what to think of Janice's class as of yet. I might like it, though I can't tell. All I know is that it's not like Jana's classes, and I need to try a few more before I can decide if I like Janice's class or not.

Kevin and I were going to watch some PVR from last week as we have both been so busy, but our memory was full and stopped recording Saturday before last. Grrr. We don't even have a lot on our PVR. The frustrating part of this is that we don't have Lost, this or last week's Grey's, this weeks Office, HIMYM, House, Cougar Town, Modern Family or this weeks 90210 (my guilty pleasure). Without PVR I would never watch any of these shows. God I love PVR.

Kevin had agreed to come to Cardio Bosu with me this morning and swimming after class. I was pretty excited. Only because this involves getting out of bed at 5am, and Kevin is not an early morning person, AT ALL! lol

For breakfast I started off with something filling. I've recently been going overboard with add ins in my oatmeal, which are extra calories I don't end up burning off. So I've scaled back this morning. 2/3 banana, 2tbsp raisins, 1tbsp chia seeds, 1tbsp pumpkin seeds to 1/3 cup oatmeal. Just as good with all the extras I had been using in the previous weeks.

Cardio Bosu was a biatch this morning. It has been 2 classes that I've missed (Friday mornings). But to boot this was a new circuit routine. I've never had my hair stick to my forehead before because I was so sweaty my hair got that wet. Wow!

Kevin, well I'm not sure how he felt about class if he liked it or not. I will ask him later today when we meet up after work, when he's more rested and rejuvenated. Even at 8am when we left the gym he was groggy and indifferent when I asked him how he liked class.

I did say we went swimming. My right shoulder is sore today. Not rotator cuff shoulder, rather outer muscle shoulder, just above my bicep, sore. So I only swam for 10 minutes. Also Kevin doesn't have goggles so he wasn't swimming as best as he could. We'll have to get him some.

Here at work now, and eating my mid morning snack. Funny how early my mid morning snacks come when I eat breakfast at 5:15am.

  • 175g of a mix of plain and vanilla liberte Greek yogurt
  • 7 raspberries
  • 3 large strawberries
  • 1/3 cup All Bran Buds
    All together
Just to show off my spoon and it's eyes. Amy from Amy's Quest to Skinny was also enjoying some vanilla flavoured Greek yogurt and strawberries yesterday.

Do you have any big plans this weekend?

100th Post

Wow how completely opposite of what I try and focus on here at MirandasJeans, LOL but still kind of funny.
I almost blew right past this anniversary without realizing it. I knew 100 was coming up soon, but I didn't think it would have hit it yet. But here we are. I have made many losses and a few gains since starting here. But I can't believe how I truly love to blog. I love that I have somewhere I can go back to and see what I've been doing, how I've been feeling and over all doing a lot of self reflection. I hope you enjoy my blog as much as I do.

I was pretty excited to try what I had made for lunch. I had bought myself some new Tofu. This is Soyganics Smoked Tofu. I used it in a wrap I prepped last night with 1/8 avocado, 1/2cup alfalfa sprouts, 1 crimini mushroom and some yellow pepper.I really enjoyed this tofu. I wouldn't buy it all the time as a go to tofu. It's a fair bit more pricey than regular non smoked tofu. Also I didn't enjoy when I was heating it up to brown the sides in the frying pan that it smelt like hot dogs. *bleck*

Like I said I did enjoy it. I enjoyed the smoky flavour it had without me having to marinade it. I enjoyed it's texture and firmness.

More than half way through eating my side to my wrap I realized I forgot to take a picture. So this is what was left of my 14 baby carrots and 3 chopped stalks of celery.
I hate when carrots have a tough woody centre. It completely ruins the carrot for me.
Check this sucker out after having chew the goodness from it. It doesn't even look like it wants to be eaten. Maybe that was it's plan all along. Hmmmm. lol

Two questions today: 1) How do you enjoy your tofu? Do you have a specific brand you always buy or do you try others? 2) How do you celebrate mini milestones?

p.s right now I am fightting the strong temptation to go to the office reception area to eat a Timbit (Tim Hortons version of a donut hole).

Feeling Great

Well there is so much to write about this morning! Layoffs, workout videos, a fabulous morning workout with the husband and some pretty amazing food! p.s. sorry in advance for the long post today.

Let's start with the layoffs. Remember when I was all uber stressed out that I might lose my job? Well, the drama continues. It has not gone away by a long shot. If anything, it has gotten worse at work. Bumping is still happening all throughout the agency. Rumours as to people being bumped are being spread a week before those people have been given their notice. And these rumours people have all turned out to be true so far. Monday 2 of our 3 full time workers were given their notice and their options (accept layoff and take Employment Insurance or bump someone with less seniority). They opted to bump. Well the union president told them both, individually of course, that they might not even be able to bump down from their full time position into a part time one (our part time list is 16 people with 5 casuals). They were told that there is 16-20 people bumping all throughout the agency and ultimately our department is the bottom of the barrel so those other people might take the positions our full timers are looking to bump down to.

So what does this all mean for me? Well if this is all true and this is how it plays out. I am part time, part of the 16 part time staff. That would mean if the full timers who are 1 and 3 above me in seniority can't get a part time spot, logically that would mean I'd lose my spot as a part timer.

How am I dealing? Well I am far beyond worried stressed anymore. I am annoyed stressed. This whole process has been going on already from start (where they announced they would be making cuts) to now, has been 3.5 months. And the layoff/bumping is still going on, and could be until May 18th.

Ugh whatever, I'm so over it, I wish I could just be told one way or another right here and now what my fate is going to be. I'm sick and tired of them stinging us along and it taking over my life.

Breath!

Yesterday's mid afternoon snack I shovelled into my mouth so fast I don't even remember what it tasted like. I thought I had a meeting right at 4pm, leaving me with mear minutes to eat. Turns out I didn't have a meeting until 4:30. Well at least I could relax as I digested a little. lol
1 serving of Liberte Greek plane yogurt, 1/3cup of all bran buds and 1 tbsp crasins.

I was anxious to have dinner. A repeat salad from the other day, which apparently I didn't share with you, so here it is today! This is where I used me homemade red wine raspberry vinaigrette I walked about here.

  • 2-3 cups baby spinach
  • 4 large (honkin') strawberries (1/8thed)
  • 6-12 raspberries
  • 1/4 cup blueberries
  • 1/8 avocado
  • 1 tbsp of cashews, slivered almonds, chia seeds, sesame seeds, Pumpkin & sunflower seed
  • 5 halves walnuts

I truly love fruits and nuts in my salads.

I also ate a grapefruit after my salad. I sneaked out of work 10 minutes early as I wanted to check out WalMart for . . . . . Some Jillian Michaels. I've been hearing a lot about her 30 day shred, so I did some research and messaged some people who had or are doing it. I was sold based on their feedback. But after 2 WalMarts and no luck, I headed to Future Shop. There I found 1 30 day shred.

Now I was looking for two. One for me and one for my girlfriend MJ. No luck finding the second, but I did find this,

[Source]

I thought well I could 'share' and by share I don't mean take turns with the DVD ;-) the two between us. And for 9.99$ each, you can't go wrong. [Source]

So MJ is going to start her shred Saturday May 1st. I work from 9am-11pm so I haven't decided when I will start mine. Maybe May 2nd-May 31 (that's 30 days). Yup seeing it now written down, that is what I will do. :-D

I ran out of Future Shop as I had a hot date at 8:30. None other than my favourite Hot Yoga! It was an advanced class. This is my second advance class, and I'm loving it. I love trying all the balanced postures (extended side arm balance, eagle pose, peacock, crow and headstands). Luuurve it!

This morning came so early. Even earlier for Kevin (as he didn't get home and to bed until 1:45am). I was so so so happy that Kevin agreed to get up with me for a early morning workout.

For breakfast I started again with my new favourite Apple Larabar. Honestly its perfect for me first thing in the morning before a workout.

After mowing down on this, it was out to get on the bikes. Not before stopping to use some masking tape on our right pant legs (neither of us have chain guards and it was only 6 degrees Celsius out). Sadly I didn't think to take a picture of this.

Off we were for a 13k bike ride followed by a short 2k run. My energy was running low and so was time before work otherwise I would have pushed through for more K's. Back at home Kevin and I did some weights working our arms and then did some ab work.

Then as I promised Kevin, I would show him the advance postures I've been working on in Hot Yoga. He was impressed with my progress (I can't always get the poses or hold them too long but keep practising).

I grabbed a quick shower and though I was going to have a mushroom egg white scramble, I was short on time. So I made something I could take with me in the car to work for a mid morning snack.

  • 2 tsp ground flax
  • 2 heaping handfuls of baby spinach
  • .66 of my banana from yesterday
  • 1/2 pint of blueberries
  • 1/4 pint raspberries
  • 1 cup Almond milk
  • 1 beet

It was delish and hit the spot around 10am this morning.

Question: What is your favourite Yoga pose? Have you ever tried a pose you didn't think you could do, but gave it a try anyways?

For me that was the first time 4 weeks ago when I first tried a headsatand. It felt great just getting into the pod.

Wednesday's Wishes

We all have wishes, hopes and dreams. I have a couple right now.

  • I want the lay off drama to end at work - I'm over it but it's just irritating now.
  • I want to go into work (both my full time and part time job) and quit on the spot.
  • I want to be working for myself.
  • I want to be working out more and enjoying what I love to do.

*sigh* One day. . . . One day. . . . And I am working on putting these dreams (well I can't control #1) into motion.

Yesterday the second half of my day was spend eating on the go. At 3:30 while driving to work to a convention centre two towns over, I munched on some veggies. Red and yellow pepper, baby carrots and celery.

I was a vendor at a local Chamber of Commerce Showcase event for my full time job with Big Brothers Big Sisters. I didn't know how it was going to and what the food situation would be like. Which is why I mowed down on the veggies in the car.

Sadly also I had to buy my dinner at the grocery store in a rush, because we had nothing I could throw together quick enough.

So with only having 1 glass of water and 1 salmon roll, 3 .5 hours later at 7:30, I was back in my car to munch on some dinner while driving home. Nothing very imaginative after my sushi dinner Monday night. Some Californian rolls. They were not very fresh but whatever, they were easy to eat while driving.

As tired as I was and just wanted to go home, we, I desperately needed to get some fresh produce (groceries).

An hour later, I got home and unpacked everything. I also had a bowl of grape nuts. I don't know why I ate those. I know how I feel if I eat cereal late at night. NOT GOOD is how it makes me feel.

I had also bought some new ingredients to make my own healthier less ingredients needed red wine raspberry vinaigrette. Version 1.0 No exact measurements, but 2 parts EVOO, 1 part red wine vinegar, splash of agave nectar and 1/2 pint of raspberries. Throw the raspberries in a food processor first before adding them to the dressing.

This morning I was wanting to go to muscle moves and go hit the pool again. Sadly when I woke up I was defeated. I was going to Hot Yoga tonight and hadn't packed those gym clothes. I went back to bed.

When I did get up, I made myself a green monster.

  • 2 cups spinach
  • 1 tbsp cashew butter
  • 4 large strawberries
  • 1 small yellow mango - can't remember the name right now.
  • 1 tsp ground flax
  • 1 cup almond milk

I was bad too and had a small bowl of sugar crisps. I needed the sugar. My body was clearly craving it (TOM), because mentally I didn't want it. I didn't want to the crash from the sugar that was going to come later. I didn't want the bloated feeling I knew was coming. I know it serves no nutritional value. WHY AM I EATING THIS? To make up for the cereal, I opted to not have a mid morning snack. Turns out I didn't need it either I didn't get hungry.

When lunch time rolled around at noon, however I clearly was hungry. I made a bee line for the fridge and dug out my lunch.

This salad I was excited to try. I had seen a picture somewhere similar and made it my own.

  • 1 cup of English cucumber
  • 2/3 med size tomato
  • 1 yellow pepper
  • several thin slices of red onion
  • Light feta cheese

Topped with my own balsamic Very low calorie lunch. So delish! I can't wait to have it again and being that I have another whole cucumber at home, that time might come sooner than later.

What wishes do you have for your life? Are you taking the steps needed to realize those wishes? Have you already made your wish, and had it come true?

Friendly skies

Wow! What a difference a bright blue sky makes in the morning when it comes to dragging your butt out of bed at 5am. As we remember yesterday I failed to get up at 5am to make it to the gym for swimming at 6:30. I blamed it on the overcast looking sky. Well as per this mornings results, I do believe that was the true cause ;)

This morning the sky was so bright looking (yes it is looking bright at 5am here now). It looked like it was such nice weather out, how could I stay in bed and not get out to enjoy the day.

More on that later.

Last night I met up with one of my bestest friends Amanda. Amanda and I live a good hour and a half apart (she in Mississauga and I in Bowmanville). But we make efforts to get together as often as possible. Even for dinners after work.

Amanda was great and found this sushi place just off the 401 at Avenue road called Nara Sushi. It is a pretty good half way meeting point for us both, that way one isn't driving further than the other.

Being that it was 7 before we got together we were pretty hungry, though I just didn't know it yet.

We decided to order together and share. Mmmmm so much goodness!
California rolls, spicy crab rolls, and salmon skin rolls. Sashimi and some sushi to boot!

I really love the smiling fish boat it came out on.

Amanda and I spend almost 2 hours at dinner, eating and catching up. With the amount of work that I have been working lately (just in case I had been laid off) and with Amanda's school schedule (finishing up her MBA - 601 class), we had a lot to catch each other up on.

We parted ways and decided we would find more random places to try that are half way for us both every few weeks until our schedules slow down.

So as I said I got up this morning for a bike ride to the swimming pool. I live a 5 minute bike ride to the local pool. But I wasn't going to ride there. PEOPLE I'M TRAINING FOR A TRY-A-TRI! I was going to ride my bike 8k to Newcastle to use the pool there.

I knew that I was in for a good hour and a half and a lot of burning of calories. So no working out on an empty stomach. I needed something that was going to give me energy, but not be too heavy in my stomach. The last apple Larabar. I don't know why until this morning I didn't fully appreciate the yumminess of this flavour. I kept trying all these other 'exotic' flavours, and didn't like them one bit. But this was just what I needed. While eating I turned on CP24 to catch up on some news, weather and all is going on in the world.

WHOAH! Cam Wolley says that it feels like it's in the minus out this morning! ACK! Good thing I turned on the news.

I grabbed my winter tuque, my mini mitts and fluffed the hood of my sweater around my neck like a scarf to go out on my bike.

Oh boy! It sure was crisp out at 6am this morning. But so calm, peaceful and relaxing. The sun was slowly coming up. This made the ride that much more enjoyable. And I was surprised that the ride wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be (lots of long gradual inclines). I'm kinda proud of myself.

During the 31 minutes I spent in the pool, I went between elation at how quick I went to frustration at my stroke technique. Sadly I felt more the later the majority of the swim. 2 weeks away from the pool clearly effected me. I am def gonna ramp up my swimming because with out the technique I'm not gonna do well in an open body of water with 50+ other swimmers.

I tried to go through my changing quickly to simulate T1 of the Tri. Took me about 8-9 minutes, but I also had to pack up my backpack too, which I won't be doing at the Tri.

The ride home I think was much windier, and really the time difference shows it. It took me 20 minutes to ride to the pool and 23 to ride home. If the wind wasn't blowing at me from my right side, it shifted to blow at me from head on. The best part of the ride home has got to be passing Algoma Orchards. All I could smell was apple pies being baked. The apple cinnamony goodness!

Back home jumped in the shower to wash all the chemicals off me and lotion up so that my skin doesn't dry out. Then true breakfast time.

Here I needed something that was going to sit in my stomach and keep me full until lunch time. Nothing keeps you full like some oatmeal. But not just any kind of oatmeal.

OIAJ!!

Almond butter this time instead of the cashew butter that I had last round.
About 2 tbsp left, perfect amount!
1/3 cup of quick oats.
* Not pictured *
  • 1/8 cup of egg whites (1egg white)
  • 2/3 cup of water
  • 1tbsp chia seeds

Take 1 banana and break it into several pieces. Then I toss it in the microwave to make it easier to mash up. Add some cinnamon and nutmeg (inspiration from the apple pie aroma from earlier) & mash! Toss the banana mixture into the jar and heat for 1.5 mins. Then I mix it up, making sure to get all that nut buttery goodness from the bottom of the jar. Heat for another 30 seconds. Voila! I topped today's OIAJ with some pumpkin seeds for some crunch and some dried blueberries. Mix together and enjoy. All gone! I love OIAJ. They are quite possibly my favourite new food I discovered through following blogs. Do you eat OIAJ? What is your favourite flavour combinations?

Early morning fail

Well last night I packed up my gym bag and everything go get up early to head into the gym. I need so desperately to get back into the routines of getting up at 5am to make it to the gym. My alarm went off and I think because it was so grey out it was just too easy for me to roll over change my alarm and fall back asleep.

*sigh* I especially wanted to get back into the routine today because there was lane swimming at 6:30 and I need to get back in the pool to train for the tri-a-tri.

I need to make sure that tomorrow I do not sleep in and get to a pool. either that or I go tomorrow night after work when Kevin will still be at work himself. Who knows there are a couple of possibilities for getting a swim in tomorrow when I wouldn't normally swim.

As for today, as it stands right now I am not getting a work out in. I do however have some plans to sit by the lake today and read while I wait for time to pass between work and my dinner date with Amanda (~A~) at 7pm. Man that is such a later dinner than I'm used to. I'm having a heck of a time trying to figure out how to space out my meals.

For breakfast I had the same breakfast from Saturday morning, so i just used the picture from Saturday morning.Egg white broccoli scramble.

I also made my morning snack at home. I hoped and crossed my fingers that it would keep better than regular protein shakes do.

  • 1/3 cup raspberries
  • 1 cup skim milk
  • 1 scoop protein powder
  • 1 tsp ground flax
  • 2 cups (small cups) baby spinach

Then I threw it into my newest buy. My Blender Bottle. I was hoping that this would be the key in rejuvenating my shake in a few hours.

Luckily it was. See no major separation despite being vigorously shaken (as is the case in a regular bottle). I credit the bottle and the spinach as being key to the success of this re-shaken shake I didn't have my shake until 11am, as I am refocusing on ensure I stay properly hydrated each and ever day. So I wanted to finish my 3.5 glasses of water {it's the size of my water bottle} before I went to snacking.

Sadly I wasn't able to hold out too long for lunch as I was starting to get tired. I ate at 12:45pm.

  • 3 slices of turkey deli meat
  • 1 Dempters Body Wise small wrap
  • 1 cup of sprouts
  • 2 slices of tomato
  • 4 romaine lettuce leaves

To my would be wrap (it wouldn't close cuz the wrap is so small lol) I ate the second half of my grapefruit from yesterday.

I can't wait for some sushi tonight. Hope you are all getting out and enjoying the weather if it's nice where you live today.

Where's Miranda?

Greetings everyone!

I am sorry that I have been MIA for the last few days. Have you missed me? I have missed you. But I have just been very busy lately as you all know, working my butt off, having picked up a zillion extra shifts just in case I needed the $$$ had I been laid off. As we know, I did not get laid off, and am pretty confident I won't be either, so after next weekend, I am back to a regular work routine.

I've been struggling still with high stress levels, still, even since taking last Wednesday to myself, and not having been getting up early to go to the gym.

I felt that I needed to continue to rest, and part of my resting was taking a short hiatus from blogging. That however is not to say that I haven't been photo journalling my days, with the exception of Sunday.

So rather than play a ginormous game of catch up, I am only going to report on Saturday. The other days I didn't do much that worrents chatting about. Food was boring and I didn't do anything exciting. But Saturday I did.

I had a long Saturday ahead of me. I was up at 7:30, was going to be spending a few hours outside and then working until 11pm. So I started the day off with something simple yet filling.
Scrambled egg whites with 1whole egg and 1 cup of chopped broccoli.

Then it was in the car off to pick up MB.
Hi MB!

We were then off to a park 15 minutes away from her house in Scarborough to . . . . . PLANT TREES!

Let me tell you I was very excited for this day to come. It had been planned for a good month or more, and I was so so excited. I think I was even more excited because I wasn't planting trees at home in Bowmanville (smaller town - where when reading Friday's paper Sunday morning, I found out I could have done in town), but rather in the city of Toronto, where you don't often think of green spaces. There were several locations all around the city, even the Mayor participated, just not at our location.
This is where we were planting up along and over the hill.
A couple of shovels on hand for us to use.
Some mulch, which later while getting our pedicures, we noticed both MB and I had these red rashy marks on our knees probably from the mulch. This pile of mulch was gonzo by the end of the 2 hours of planting.
Getting our lesson in all the steps needed to plant our trees.
MB with her first tree laying down the mulch.
Ta-Da 1 of 10 down for MB! Beautiful picture!
My turn with the first of my 10 trees.
So cute.
Showing my tree some love so it grows big and strong.
MB and I planted 3 trees super fast and then we looked around and the next thing we knew, we were surrounded by other volunteer tree planters.
To our left, boy scouts.
To our left lots and lots more people all the way down the park side.

Checkout the friend one of my trees made as soon as it was planted.
MB and I headed down where we thought we could have more space and more trees to plant, down the side of the big hill. Have you ever tried to plant a tree on the down slope of a hill with lots of strangers around you doing the same. It's hard!
We went back over to the original area we were in, as it had emptied out, and there was still lots of trees to be planted.

Oh! You know why the trees were still there and no one around? Because it wasn't all properly tilled before hand.

We had to get down on our hands and knees to dig around the big a$s rocks and BRICKS. Yes bricks, like house bricks.
Sadly the rocks and bricks slowed us down which is why we only planted 10 each instead of more. But 10 is better than none right!?

After the trees were all planted MB and I went off to Kelsey's for some lunch.

I ordered a club salad minus the bacon and sub the ranch dressing for a balsamic.
Some bruschetta tomatoes, feta and yes guacamole! Great salad.
After to kill time, as I had to work in Scarborough at 3, we went to get ourselves cleaned up with mani/pedi's. No pictures as I forgot. I was just so relaxed laying back being pampered and chatting.

3pm off to work.

I had packed my dinner as I am trying to drop the stress lbs I've gained. But it was also homemade pizza night at the group home. So I grabbed a half a slice to add to my salmon salad.
For my evening snack I sliced up and ate 1 gala apple and 1 plum.
Tasty snack while watching the Breakup and I Love You Man at the group home.

Come 11pm I was out the door and zooming home. I was so tired, I could have fallen asleep at 9:30/10pm if I wasn't working.

How was your weekend? Did you do anything really fun?
